OUT NOW: MM6 Maison Margiela x The North Face Outwear Collection
There has been a lot of talk about circular fashion lately, but in this case, the concept is not about recycling, sustainability and textiles. This time it's more literal.
MM6 Maison Margiela has joined forces with The North Face in a series of pieces that fuse the Maison's characteristic experimentalism and indistinguishable 6 motif with the legendary expertise of outdoor clothing.
Aimed at a unisex range and largely inspired by the rebellious spirit of New York's East Village in the late 1950s, this new collaboration presented at the beginning of this year's London Fashion Week has taken as its starting point the 1990 TFN Expedition System series, which featured a modular system of pieces in detachable layers; allowing it to combat extreme climatic conditions.
From the classic TNF garments, pieces were taken that were infused with a kind of deconstruction to bring them into the MM6 aesthetic: these include the Mountain Circle warm jacket, the iconic Nuptse Circle goose down jacket, the Circle Denali fleece, the robust Nuptse scarf with the basic jacket design to be worn around the neck and the Tabi Expedition gloves with a nod to the brand's iconic Japanese inspired shoe.
At this point the influence of outdoor clothing on the fashion scene is unquestionable and what better way to experiencing it than along with experts in their field.
The MM6 Maison Margiela x The North Face collaboration is now available online on our website. Don't miss out!
